The City-dwellers of Budapest

Most people in Budapest carry a cell phone, use the public transportation daily, live in their own apartment and work in the city. The city dwellers of Budapest work a variety of jobs as in any major city - including retail, service, and product industries.

It is common for multiple generations to live together if space is provided, though many families live in two-bedroom apartments inside block buildings.

Weddings tend to be fairly formal affairs where with customs very similar to that of other Western countries.

Children are raised according to the customs and values of their parents. Positive reinforcement is not often practiced and many times children are motivated to learn through negative tactics. Children (generally above the age of 3) are taught to honor and respect elders and also taught to be quiet, still and polite in public settings.

Hungary does not have a caste system, though a strong class system is very much in effect. The upper class (former aristocracy) is very small with a large lower-middle class. The influx of capitalism has allowed many families the opportunity to progress financially, yet has demanded in general that people work 2-3 jobs to support the lifestyle they want to live.
