Vizsla

The vizsla is a breed of sporting dog. It can generally work both as a pointer and a retriever. Developed on the open plains of Hungary, the vizsla was bred to be a swift and cautious hunter, wary of alerting its quarry.

Life expectancy: 13 to 15 years

Color: Reddish-gold or sandy-yellow coat.

Coat type: Short, dense coat.

Exercise needs: Requires regular and vigorous exercise.

Temperament: Gentle and good natured. Highly intelligent, but easily distracted.

Good with Children: The vizsla gets along well with other animals and children. Demonstrative with the family; Makes a good watchdog.

Grooming needs: Minimum shedder; weekly brushes

Average size: male 22 - 24 inches, 49 - 62 lbs; female 21 - 23 inches, 49 - 62 lbs

Health issues
This breed may suffer from hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and eye diseases such as progressive retinal atrophy.

Take care to socialize puppies at an early age. Note that puppies should be alert and responsive and never shy or aggressive.

Living conditions
The vizsla breed is best suited for those owners who live in rural areas so the dog can get lots of exercise.
