Shipyard Island (Óbudai Sziget) on the Danube becomes a town within the city during this multicultural festival. Around 400,000 come to Sziget each year for concerts featuring global names, the cream of Hungarian bands and rising stars, as well as for theater performances, films, exhibitions, classical music and sports programs.

AUGUST 8-9, SÜMEG, MEDIEVAL CASTLE FESTIVAL IN SÜMEG
The cavalcade of events staged as part of the Sümeg Castle Tournament evokes the battles of the Ottoman era as well
as bringing Hungarian history and traditions to life. Festivities include re-enactment of the siege of Sümeg as well as a medieval jousting tournament where brave knights battle to the roar of the crowd.

AUGUST 14-16 , EGER, Dobó square – Eger Wine Show at the Eger Market
This program is an introduction of the Uplands wine makers from four wine regions like Eger, Mátra, Bükk-Foothills, Tokaj-Foothills wine region. Guests can taste different kinds of wine from this wine-district, such as the most famous red wine of Hungary, the “Bull’s Blood” (Egri Bikavér) to the high – ranking unique wine, Tokaji Aszú.
This attraction accompanied by colorful cultural programs at Dobó Square.

AUGUST 15 – 21, DEBRECEN FLOWER CARNIVAL
Debrecen in flowers – it is the greatest and most well-known event of the city and Hungary. None of the carnivals in Europe exhibit such grandiose flower compositions. The event is connected to the 20th August, Saint Stephan’s Day and the festivity of the new bread. For five days light, entertaining genres are presented in the Kossuth Square.

AUGUST 20-24, BUDAPEST, XXIII. Festival of Folk Arts
Many of the most prominent craftsmen and women in Hungary showcase their skills in workshops set up throughout the Buda Castle, while visitors can also take in performances of folk music and dance. The Feast Day of King St Stephen on August 20 is marked with a procession of harvesters and the blessing of the new bread, followed by the most amazing firework.

AUGUST 28 – SEPTEMBER 6, FERTŐD, „HAYDN AT ESZTERHÁZA” FESTIVAL
The “Haydn at Eszterháza” festival was founded by the Hungarian Haydn Society in 1998 with the goal of presenting Haydn’s masterworks at one of the most important venues of Haydn’s life, in the magnificent ceremonial hall of the Esterházy Palace at Fertőd. Many of the leading Hungarian and international specialists of historic Haydn performance have performed there during the last years. The festival is a member of the European Festivals Association, its concerts are regularly broadcast by radio stations across Europe.
